Bill Ellis is a patient with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency Emphysema. That doesn’t stop him from running around after his dog at a dog show! With the help of his oxygen backpack, he maintains an active and healthy lifestyle.
“I continue to be a sample-of-one testament to the benefits of staying active, in spite of my Alpha-1. I walk 30 minutes per day, do lung volume and strengthening exercises, and generally stay active. This past year, I have been doing a lot of American Kennel Club agility competitions with my dog. I’m not nearly as fast as he is, but do pretty well by wearing a small oxygen tank in a fanny pack. Happily, my PFT values were unchanged from a year ago.” – Bill Ellis
